Final EU ETS increase and UK ETS implementation Dear Customer, We would like to inform you of upcoming changes to the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) effective 1 January 2026. From this date, EU ETS will apply to 100% of emissions from maritime transport , an increase from 70% in 2025, as part of the EU’s plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This will continue to impact your shipping costs when utilizing ferries in European road transport. Shipping lines will face increased costs due to this legislation and will continue to pass the additional cost along the logistics chain, ultimately affecting companies that depend on shipping for transportation. Our billing model will adapt accordingly, with monthly updates reflecting ferry crossings and emission impact. • 100% of emissions for transport between EU ports. • 50% of emissions for transport starting or ending outside the EU. Note: For former Schenker customers , the sulfur surcharge will be phased out and replaced by surcharges for ETS and Marpol. UK ETS implementation The UK will introduce its own ETS from 1 July 2026 , aligning with the EU ETS and applying to UK waters. The above regulatory changes are outside DSV’s control and will result in ongoing operational cost increases for shipping lines, reflected in monthly ETS surcharges. We expect an impact on the ETS surcharges from January 2026, with an additional adjustment for UK/EU movements from July 2026. If you have any questions, please contact your regular DSV representative. Thank you for your understanding and continued partnership. Kind regards, DSV Road
